Those crisp, jagged little edges – the mark of any great drop biscuit – serve to accentuate strands of cheddar cheese tossed throughout these light, fluffy biscuits. Not a biscuit in the traditional sense. These biscuits are brushed with rich melted butter blended with garlic powder and parsley creating a delightful, savory bite! Oh, and did we say easy? Yes, very easy!

It’s a recipe that can be found in many kitchens across the South. Many moms made this quick little biscuit using a favorite shortcut – boxed biscuit mix. Where we lived markets weren’t open every hour of every day – never on Sunday – so a stocked pantry was critical.

Made with a short list of pantry staples starting with a biscuit mix and baking mix. Toss in shredded cheese and mix together with a pour of milk.

Brush the tops with melted butter, dried parsley and garlic powder.

Baked until puffed and golden, they’re on your table in no time!

Though most Southern cooks pride themselves on baking from scratch, there is no shame in cutting corners to save a minute or two. Especially when you don’t sacrifice flavor!
